House of Blues

I'm such a political nerd. Last night, as always, I watched the entire election on the boob tube. It's a lot easier on the West Coast because we're 3 hours behind all the action, so you can still retire at a somewhat reasonable hour. The guy I most like to watch during elections is Chris Matthews on MSNBC. Besides being pretty much down the middle, he's well versed in American political history and knows the town of DC like the back of his hand. I especially love it when the hour gets late and they all start getting punchy after being on television for so long..you can just tell they love their jobs and politics and wouldn't be anywhere else in the world than in that studio.

At any rate, for the first time in 12 years, the Dems will control the House (Senate still undecided). Apparently, US voters are tired of corruption and being told lies about Iraq, Terrorism, etc..wow, perhaps US voters are beginning to see what people around the world have been saying for years! Unfortunately, I think it'll be too little too late (What the hell can we really do now in Iraq?), but at least it's a step in the right direction! Looking forward to Bush's little speech in 2 hours, or rather Jon Stewart/Steven Colbert's take on Bush's speech in 2 hours:)

I made an attempt at staying up all night for this as well. Only have CNN though, and I can't seem to take more than thirty minutes of Anderson Cooper...so I went to bed, and heard the great news on the radio when I woke up :)

haha, agreed. he's too young (even though he has grey hair). I want to listen to someone who's been around the beltway for awhile..

Haha, yeah, for all those reasons too :-) But mainly, I just can't stand his guts LOL

I just read that AC's hair started to become grey when he was just twenty, and that he was all-grey at just thirty-five. Yeah yeah, whatever, Anderson Schmanderson. Nobody looks better with grey hair than good ol' Jon Stewart ;-)

Hey now... I saw all the Anderson bashing, but if you read his bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anderson_Cooper, you may find him quite an interesting character :) (he snuck into Burma with a fake ID and being smuggled across the border by locals, b/c he thought that it would be a story that no one would cover. And he started doing conflict zone reporting since then - Somalia, Bosnia, Rwanda).

That's pretty ballsy and I think it's neat the way he is a self-made journalist (instead of twiddling his thumb in a cushy news HQ in the US or London). Gotta respect that, at least.

YEAH YEAH
i remember ole Anderson Cooper from Channel 1..but you know what..I became turned off to Cooper once I found out that he's really just the son of railroad heiress Gloria Vanderbilt. I don't know, i know you can't choose which family you're born into, but when you're born with a silverspoon in your mouth suddenly your accomplishments don't seem so grand (must be the midwest speaking in me)

Before posting my comment about him, I read exactly that wikipedia entry on him :-) And well, some things seem quite spectacular, and okay, he studied Vietnamese in Vietnam, was an embedded reporter and all. But that doesn't change the fact that I can't stand his guts :-D
There's just something extremely snobbish about him...

Woa... totally had a flashback of seeing this guy in a que at Six Flags - he had a Jack Nicholson tattoo on his left calf (the face from The Shining) and an MC Escher bird and fish tattoo on the other calf.

Don't get me wrong - I don't have the hots for AC. I just think it's interesting how he just decided to smuggle himself to a volatile location to get his big break footage. And yes, I can't wipe off the Channel 1 image of him either. I hardly watch CNN now-a-days anyway. Regardless of what AC is like, it's good that there's fresh anchors - they can't rely on the Wolf to live forever...
