Slowing Down..

Last night I watched the 2002 Turkish movie, "Distant" (Uzak)", which had its setting in a wintery Istanbul. Of the three times I've been to the city, I've never seen snow, but now I hope that will change..the city looked amazing in this film! The characters seemed genuine and made me miss some of those crazy Turks I know..except Digs of course.
It didn't move as fast as anything coming out of Hollywood, but that's exactly what I enjoyed about it..after having watched it I felt a sense of calm come over me...a resigned relaxation that I haven't felt in months...it reminded me of my first time walking the streets of Istanbul alone...that kind of quiet soul-searching/lonliness/ isolation sensation you feel when you're far away from home and all by yourself. Once in awhile it's good to be a nobody in a city nobody back home really knows about.
En Buyuk Istanbul.

Yeah Istanbul is the greatest ever... pity the price of beer though is not what it used to be.
The guy in the picture looks like a real man... can't wait to move myself to a place closer to the roots where the men are men again.
